Covid Update - Stage 3 brought forward

Published Tue 30 Jun 2020

WPQ welcome today’s announcement by the State Government to bring forward Stage 3 to noon on Friday 3rd July and the easing of further restrictions including opening of borders to all States and Territories (subject to border declarations) except Victoria where further outbreaks continue to pose a risk to the Australian community.

What does this mean for water polo??

  • As of 12noon on Friday 3rd July, permitted activities for sport, recreation and fitness organisations when following a COVID Safe Industry Plan include:
  1. resumption of activity including competition and physical contact is permitted on the field of play (including training)
  2. indoor sports facilities can open with one person per 4 square metres (off the field of play)
  3. outdoor sports facilities can open with physical distancing (off the field of play), ie. no social distancing of participants required during competition and training
  • More events allowed:
  1. fewer than 500 people – no approval needed when following a COVID Safe Event Checklist (at this stage we assume this includes local competitions)
  2. 500 to 10,000 people – need a COVID Safe Event Plan approved by local public health units
  3. COVID Safe Industry Plans continue to apply with revisions to reflect changes in Stage 3
  4. COVID Safe Checklists continue to apply

• Stay at home if you’re sick

• Tracking, tracing, rapid response
