Jordan Sheterline resigns as WPQ State Competitions & Events Co-ordinator

It is with sadness and disappointment that I advise you that Jordan Sheterline has tendered his resignation as Water Polo Queensland’s State Competitions and Events Co-ordinator and will finish up with Water Polo Queensland (WPQ) on Tuesday 16 November. However, Jordan will stay involved in a part-time capacity from 16 to 28 November to see out the finals of the 2021 Premier League.

On behalf of the WPQ Board and Staff, I would like to acknowledge and thankyou Jordan for the great work he has done across multiple areas of the business during the past 3 years. Not only has Jordan successfully overseen and managed the WPQ State events and competitions program, he has also been the Competition Co-ordinator for the Brisbane Water Polo competition and has also provided support in the club development space and has been integral in implementing the WPA Education Framework and more recently the new Learning and Development framework. He was instrumental in the establishment of the inaugural Premier League and has done a wonderful job delivering many State water polo events and competitions across Queensland including one of the most successful State Championships on the Gold Coast this year as well as the Qld Country Championships, WPQ Polo 5s, University Games and has played a key role in the planning and organisation to reinstate water polo back into the Masters Pan Pacific Games. Jordan has worked tirelessly to manage and successfully oversee the delivery of the BWPI Competition and has provided support to the Gold Coast Water Polo competition as well as Sunshine Coast Water Polo.

Jordan has always gone above and beyond his role to oversee the digital content and event marketing and promotion for WPQ. His commercial approach and commitment to engage with members and the water polo community via social media to promote WPQ activities, events, competitions and our partners has been wonderful in enabling WPQ to raise the profile of the sport. His ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders was a key strength and Jordan was key in negotiating the partnership arrangements with Grill’d as well as the Live Streaming agreement with News Corp.

As an active player, Club and State Coach, Advanced level Referee, Assessor and Mentor, Jordan has spent many hours on pool deck developing and building the capacity of others within the sport. His passion, commitment and dedication to water polo, not to mention his wealth of knowledge and experience across all areas will be missed and he leaves a large gap to fill, not only in the events and competitions area but also in player, coach and referee development and we hope he remains in the sport in some capacity to continue to add value to the sport.

Jordan has always acted with professionalism, loyalty and in the best interests of the sport and WPQ is certainly in a better position from Jordan’s involvement.

On behalf of the Board and Staff of WPQ, I would like to thank and acknowledge Jordan for his contribution to WPQ and wish him all the very best for the future.

Kind Regards,

Melanie Woosnam

Water Polo Queensland CEO
