Water Polo Queensland (WPQ) are excited to announce that KAP7 will be the official ball and equipment partner for WPQ for the next 3 years. KAP7 will design and supply all water polo balls for official State and Country Team programs, State and major events as well as Talent Development Programs, Sporting Schools, Gala Days and clinics. They will also provide specialised water polo equipment for WPQ including junior goals, markers and a range of training equipment.
KAP7 is water polo focused and began in the pool at a grassroots level in 1999 running clinics around the USA. They identified a need for quality water polo products designed by people who truly understand and appreciate the sport. It was from these humble beginnings that KAP7 was officially founded in 2004 by Bradley Schumacher and Wolf Wigo, 2 USA Olympic Water Polo athletes. Since then they have strategically positioned KAP7 to focus on water polo because they love the sport and are grateful for the many opportunities it has provided, both personally and professionally. KAP7 directly supports 50+ organizations around the world including Water Polo NSW and Water Polo Australia. A portion of every sale generated goes back to the sport, its athletes and organizations worldwide.
Water Polo Queensland CEO Melanie Woosnam said: “We are very excited to be establishing a relationship with KAP7 which is the leading International water polo brand founded by two experienced and passionate water polo professionals.
KAP7 were endorsed by the WPQ Board following a very competitive, transparent and thorough tender process. At the end of this process, KAP7 were ranked the preferred ball and equipment supplier across a number of key selection criteria. The fact that KAP7 are also partners with Water Polo Australia and Water Polo NSW speaks volumes about the quality of their products, their credibility and reliability and will facilitate greater collective bargaining power, collaboration and alignment with commercial partnerships that will benefit all levels of the sport across the country”.
Distributors for KAP7 Australia - Tessa Green & Tara Mackay are excited about the partnership with Water Polo Queensland, indicating, “It is an ongoing mission of KAP7 to support the development of water polo
worldwide. We are very proud to be partnering with Water Polo Queensland to positively impact the sport in providing the best quality balls and equipment for all Queensland athletes.”
KAP7 and WPQ will work closely together over the coming months to develop a customised Water Polo Queensland branded ball that is appealing and clearly represents the partnership with KAP7. The KAP7 balls will start to be integrated into the WPQ State Squad and Team programs over the coming weeks as we transition to this new arrangement and in the lead up to the National Country and National Championships in May. We look forward to unveiling this new co-branded water polo ball as well as other water polo training equipment and accessories that will allow us to promote and develop water polo throughout more locations acrossQueensland.
