National Water Polo Day
Published Thu 11 Jul 2024
With less than 50 days to go until the Paris Olympic Games, the excitement is building as our Aussie Sharks and Stingers prepare to take on the best water polo teams from across the world.
Water Polo Australia is extending an invitation to be a part of National Water Polo Day on 14 September 2024 as part of a return from Paris campaign aimed to grow the profile and membership of Water Polo in Australia.
What is National Water Polo Day?
National Water Polo Day has been created to capitalise on the profile of our Aussie Sharks and Stingers from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Water Polo Queensland is celebrating National Water Polo Day by delivering the WPQ Junior Festival in the Moreton Bay region on the 14 & 15 September. The festival is an all-inclusive introduction to water polo and will include a mini tournament with modified rules that will encompass a skills and drills session on both days. WPQ encourages all clubs and individuals to register for the event and gives water polo a go.
You can register as an individual or clubs can register interest to enter teams. Teams can be boys, girls or mixed.
If you are interested being a part of WPQ National Water Polo Day please register here
Alternatively, if your Club or Association wish to run your own event please follow the WPA link provided
How can my club get involved?
- Clubs will need to register their interest to host an event on National Water Polo Day HERE
- Once you’ve registered, WPA be in touch to help find the best program for your club to run on National Water Polo Day (eg. FlippaBall, Junior Competition, Strollo Polo etc). It doesn’t need to be one of these programs.
- Ensure that you have pool space available on Saturday 14th September 2024
- Plan to have the relevant coaches available, or let WPA know how they can connect you with coaches in your local area
- Start to plan the process for registration or registration support you can offer on the day (i.e. how does the participant become a member of your club after the event?)
What will my club get for being involved in National Water Polo Day?
