After a successful season, both the men's and women's QLD Thunder teams have progressed to the OVO League AWL Finals Series.
After the AWL itself had a re-vamp this year the two previous teams Queensland teams joined forces to create the Thunder.
The women's team who finished 3rd on the ladder will face off in the first round of the finals series against a yet to be decided 6th place.
The QLD Thunder men's team were reliant on last weekends result to reach the finals after finishing 6th at the end of the season.
QLD Thunder player Rielly Townend spoke about the successful mix of experience and youth saying
"This first season has been an amazing experience, especially for the younger players in the squad. For us, it has been great playing alongside the likes of Rhys Howden and Billy Miller.
I think everyone in the team was on the same page about how this first season would go. We have taken some time to get our chemistry right in the water, but I feel as though we will have it all worked out when we jump in the pool on Friday night. We’ve had a few injuries this season including our captain Rhys being ruled out for the season. Despite these injuries, with finals just around the corner, I feel like we can give any team a run for their money."
