SPANISH INVASION AT QUEENSLAND BREAKERS

The Queensland Breakers have received a great bonus this National League season with the addition of three Spanish imports in coaching and playing roles.

Queensland Breakers captain Anthony Martin met their current coach Aitor Pinho whilst playing in Spain for Barceloneta.  Anthony extended an invitation to come to Queensland and the connection has snowballed from there.

Aitor 27, was a goalie in the 16, 18, & 20 Spanish National Teams, then progressed to their National League team Barceloneta for his Senior career.  Aitor moved on to coach Montuic.  He has studied accounting and is currently working at Coffee Hit café in Carindale.  Aitor’s partner Mireia has joined him in Brisbane, where she has an internship studying Marketing.

Queensland Breakers Men’s player #11 has been a great asset to his team this season.  Raimon Hernandez 26, has been one of Breakers highest goalscorers.  Raimon came to Qld with his mate Aitor, who he has played with in Spain since they were 10 years old.  Raimon played National League for five years with Spanish club Mediterrani and one year with Catalunya.  He is currently studying at the English Academy.

Raimon’s partner Laura Vincente Zuniga, 23, joined him at Breakers and has been a force to be reckoned with, ensuring the Queensland Breakers Women’s team make the NWPL finals, they are currently in second place.  Laura has been an amazing addition to the team, making an impressive debut scoring 4 goals in her first 2 games.

Queensland Breakers and their supporters have enjoyed watching these fabulous Spanish imports make a valuable contribution to our growing club.
