On behalf of the Board of Water Polo Qld (WPQ), I would like to advise that unfortunately our North Queensland Development Officer – Andrea Johnstone finished up with Water Polo Qld last week. Andrea’s Husband has been transferred to Sydney for work and they will be relocating during July.
Andrea has been a tremendous asset for WPQ over the past two and a half years and has played a particularly important role in growing and developing water polo and building the capacity of our volunteers throughout regional Queensland. Andrea has worked closely with a number of Country Clubs, Associations and Schools to raise the awareness and participation of water polo. She was also responsible for co-ordinating the Sporting Schools Program which has seen the National Junior Flippa Ball program rolled out across a number of primary schools throughout the State. Some of Andrea’s key achievements during her time with WPQ include:
- Established two new clubs in Cairns and Hervey Bay, exceeding the KPI of one new satellite Club by the end of 2019
- Assisted in the establishment of a new Region operating in the Wide Bay area encompassing Hervey Bay and Maryborough
- Increased membership across the northern region significantly including developing new areas for existing Clubs and Associations
- Provided significant organisational support to Water Polo Queensland and Water Polo Australia at major tournaments both here and overseas
- Increased water polo visibility in schools throughout Queensland
WPQ would like to thank Andrea for the great work she has contributed to the organisation during her time with us and we wish her and her family all the very best for the future.
We will endeavour to keep all of our members updated on a regular basis and I look forward to speaking with many of you in the coming weeks and months.
