Water Polo Queensland Management Committee Resignation

On behalf of the Board of Water Polo Queensland, we would like to advise that Jeremy Archer has stepped down from his role as the Diversity and Marketing Officer on the Board, due to a rescoped professional role, effective immediately. 

"Jeremy joined the WPQ Board to make a change for the better for the water polo community through showcasing diversity and inclusion, whilst improving WPQ's marketing and communication presence. His most accomplished achievements have been the guidance and suppport he has provided in raising the awareness and importance at a State and National level of creating stronger policies and opportunities for greater inclusion. The establishment of the Pride Cup and Pride Shield in Queensland are initiatives that Jeremy was very passionate about and instrumental in delivering," said WPQ President Sharyn Tucker. "During his time on the Board, Jeremy has always acted in a professional manner with the sports best interest in mind. We wish him all the very best in his new position and increased responsibilities and hope he will continue to be a wonderful role model for inclusion and diversity for all Queenslanders!"

Some key achievements Jeremy has been instrumental in driving include:

  • Pride Cup and Pride Shield for the 2017 event - WINNER - Inclusion Initiative
  • Out Role Model - Jeremy Archer WINNER
  • Pride Cup adn Pride Shield for the 2018 event
  • Engagement with a number of Regions and Clubs about diversity, inclusion, and acceptance
  • Represented WPQ at numerous Pride, Diversity, and Inclusion conferences and events
  • Increased engagement above industry standard on formal correspondence from WPQ
  • Increased exporuse for water polo across metropolitan and regional QLD
  • Increased water polo engagement across multiple social media platforms in QLD; e.g. coaching videos

All suitably skilled and qualified Club and Association people from across Queensland are encouraged to consider repsonding to the expression of interest, including the role description for the Diversity and Marketing Officer, that will be distributed in due course in order for the casual vacancy created by Jeremy's resignation to be filled.
