WATER POLO QUEENSLANDS JUNIOR TALENT PROGRAM ANNOUNCED

Water Polo Queensland (WPQ) is excited to announce the introduction of a new Junior Talent Program (JTP) that will deliver targeted coaching emphasising high-performance skill acquisition, while supporting athletes through their stages of development and/or education pursuits. The program will also play an important role in preparing athletes for future inclusion in the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) and state/national junior & senior team programs. 

A specialist coach will work with each of the squads developing periodised training plans and Individual Performance Plans (IPP) for each athlete and maintain strong working relationships with clubs and schools that ensures seamless integration between these programs and the JTP. It will also be supported by the QAS program with input and support from both head coaches. 

Recently appointed Head of Coach & Athlete Development, Mel Rippon said, "The introduction of the Junior Talent Program is critical in ensuring we continue to develop and support our talented athletes as they progress through the pathway. The program has been designed to ensure athletes can progress through these squads at each stage of their development and so can continue to identify and add athletes into the program as the season progresses."

Athletes and parents will be invited to attend an information session and induction on Sunday, 21st October 2018. (TBC)
